Thanks above
all to Kathy and Anna. Their encouragement, confidence in our
ability to pull this off, and uncomplaining assistance with many of
our preparations, made this self-indulgent adventure possible.
They have also patiently put up with many hours of Kili stories
since our return. Thank you so much - we love
you!
Thanks to Graham Farebrother of Absolute Adventure
Travel, who arranged the whole trip. His knowledge of
Tanzania in general and Kili trekking in particular were
invaluable. He understood exactly what we were looking for,
and he provided it - everything was truly first-rate.

And thanks also to Allan Phillemon of African Outdoor
Expeditions, the Tanzanian end of the business, who from the moment
we arrived took complete care of getting us where we needed to go,
and supplied us with the best crew we could hope for.

Our guide, Raymond, and assistant guide, Fredy, are the real
reasons we made it to the Kibo summit. They were our cheerful,
engaging and informative companions on the mountain, expertly guided
our feet on the trail, kept us going when we were tired, and ensured
that we were never discouraged. Thank you both for everything
you did! Thanks also to Ramisha, our creative and skillful
cook, Idirisa and Shakai who carried our kit, and all the
members of the crew - a cool bunch of guys!

.
At Sinya Camp, thanks to Sylvester and
his camp crew, and to Paul and Lucas who first introduced us to the
joys of viewing game in Africa. And at Manyara and Ngorongoro,
thanks to James, who kept us laughing as he guided us around the
park and found more game than we imagined we would ever
see.
